  • From an early age, I remember always having an overflow of creative ideas rattling around my brain, finding its earliest outlet in endless drawings on the reams of paper available at my family’s photocopying business. Those youthful expressions paved the way for my artistic journey and drawing and painting soon became my foundational pillars.

College introduced me to the captivating world of photography. Through the lens of analogue cameras, I explored the alchemy of black and white film processing and the artistry of the darkroom. Those initial steps were about mastering monochromatic subtleties, learning to harness light’s dance through manual control.

As I journeyed through adolescence, my pursuit of creativity turned into an all-encompassing obsession, driven by an insatiable hunger that knew no bounds. This period saw my affinity for photography start to take shape as I started orchestrating model test shoots, collaborating with make-up artists and showcasing vintage clothing brands while also working on personal journalistic projects exploring coming of age themes with sensitivity.

When faced with the choice of higher education, I found myself at a crossroads, torn between my newfound passion for photography and my enduring love for art. Ultimately, my choice led me down the path of the latter, a decision forged from an apprehension that my blossoming passion for photography might be fleeting. I embarked on a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Technical Arts and Special Effects which had a unique curriculum of 3D projects primed for film and theatre's art department.

My academic sojourn honed my technical skills to meet the exacting standards of the industry amid power tools and workshop machinery. The course covered subjects spanning from the nuances of figurative sculpture anatomy to the intricacies of silicone moulding and casting. This journey nurtured my creative resilience through a breadth of hands-on dexterous work, deep-rooted in technical knowledge.

While my studies concluded on a high note, the arduous ascent left me feeling both accomplished and utterly fatigued. Yet, as one chapter drew to a close, a new chapter beckoned - 10 years in the making, the pandemic’s arrival prompted a rediscovery of my passion for photography. In this spark, I found resonance in the realms of branding and creative direction. Now fuelled by these dimensions and bolstered by my flair for set and prop design, I plan to embark on a path where visual narratives come alive.

Reflecting on the transformative years that have passed, I stand at the intersection of inspiration and creation. Ideas that took root during the pandemic now stand poised for realisation in the years ahead. With eager anticipation, I step into the unfolding journey, ready to infuse life into these cultivated concepts and capture their radiance through my lens.
